So much of what we believe today was first hammered out by Christians that came before us. In fact, after reading the newest book, Classic Christian Thinkers by Kenneth Samples of Reasons to Believe, I was reminded at how even some apologetic arguments I use today were first created about 1,900 years ago. These theological positions and apologetic arguments shape the way that we should live and think today.

Listen below as we discuss some of the important theological positions of the classic Christian thinkers and how they influence our apologetic encounters today. The topics include:

  • Irenaeus’s defense against Gnosticism
  • The soul-making defense
  • How churches can take a stance against false doctrine
  • Athanasius’s stance against Arianism
  • How to talk to Jehovah’s Witnesses that come to your door
  • Anselm’s ontological argument
  • Pascal’s wager
  • The preconditions of science

I hope you enjoy the episode this week!
