One reason I love studying ethics is that our technology is advancing faster than our understanding. New ethical questions arise frequently with the speed that we are advancing in areas like biotechnology. Scientists have already developed the possibility of gene editing, giving humans brain implants, and even controlling robotic limbs with brain-computer interfaces.

Should we discourage advances in biotechnology that can be used for human enhancement? Should we use any means necessary to control our future and move into a posthuman age? Where should the line be drawn between restorative purposes and enhancement purposes?

In Humans 2.0, authors Fazale Rana and Kenneth Samples from Reasons to Believe discuss some of the most important scientific, philosophical, and theological perspectives on Transhumanism. I hope you enjoy part 1 of my interview with Dr. Fazale Rana.
